PORT Adelaide small forward Jake Neade’s failure to find a new AFL home in the trade period might have marked the end of his big-league career with his delisting at Alberton.
Neade, who drew interest from Collingwood and North Melbourne before this month’s trade period, Melbourne recruit Dom Barry and SANFL best-and-fairest winner Will Snelling were cut by the Power to add to the earlier three delistings.
They join Melbourne recruit Jimmy Toumpas, North Melbourne signing Lindsay Thomas and rookie-listed Emmanuel Irra in the exits at Alberton as the new list-management strategy continues at the Power.
Port Adelaide has removed 10 players from its 2018 list - trading out four, wingman Jared Polec and defender Jasper Pittard to North Melbourne, midfielder-forward Chad Wingard to Hawthorn and defender Jack Hombsch to Gold Coast; and delisting six, Thomas by his own call with his retirement after just one season on the Power rookie list.
The gains of West Coast ruckman Scott Lycett, Hawthorn defender Ryan Burton and Brisbane defender Sam Mayes leaves the Power with four spots to fill on its senior list. One of these has been taken by the promotion of impressive young defender Dan Houston from the rookie list.
The other three spots will be filled with Port Adelaide’s first-round draft picks - Nos. 5, 10 and 15 - in the AFL national draft on November 22-23.
The rookie list is left with three players - recontracted defender Jarrod Lienert, midfielder-defender Cameron Hewett and ruckman Peter Ladhams.
Neade, 24, closes his Port Adelaide chapter after 66 AFL games with 55 goals since after making his debut for the Power in 2013.
Barry, 24, played just five AFL games with Port Adelaide after being handed a second chance at Alberton after a three-year break from the AFL game.
Snelling, a rookie-listed player since 2016, played just one AFL game - in 2016.
Port Adelaide football boss Chris Davies announced the delistings last night saying: “Jake, Dom and Will have all contributed to the club in their own ways and I would like to thank them for their dedication.
“Unfortunately, we have reached the time of the year where we have to make tough decisions regarding the future of our list.”
