Port Adelaide is firming as the favourite to secure Essendon speedster Orazio Fantasia as speculation grows that he’ll seek a trade.

Speculation heightened last week surrounding Fantasia’s desire to return home when he parted company with his manager Anthony McConville despite having two years to run on his current contract and Essendon great Matthew Lloyd said making a prospective trade work would be tricky for both clubs.

“Port Adelaide, you hear is his preference if he is to go home,’’ Lloyd told AFL Trade Radio.

“Port Adelaide, they have pick nine which is way too early I would have thought, their next pick is Pick 27 which isn’t enough.

“I think Orazio at his best is worth more than that.”

While Sam Powell-Pepper has been rumoured as a potential fit at Essendon, Dougal Howard’s name has been thrown around after he was told during recent exit interviews his future for the Power was as a forward and not in defence.

Lloyd said Fantasia is a unique talent with match winning capabilities.

“I’ve seen him kick five goals in a game of football more than once,’’ Lloyd added.

“Big time player, his kicked 20 goals four years straight despite his injuries, it’s hard to find a player that can do that.’’

Lloyd said it was an interesting time for the Essendon Football Club with Joe Daniher strongly linked to the Sydney Swans.

“It’s not a good sign wither when you’ve got two players of that age bracket considering wanting to leave the Essendon Football Club.

“The Daniher camp has not spoken to the Bombers about a trade, so as it stands the Bombers believe he will be playing there next year,” Lloyd said.
