PORT Adelaide vice-captain Ollie Wines is ready to meet his manager — to set up a new contract at Alberton.
The 23-year-old midfielder will spend his mid-season break confirming to his Victorian-based family his intent to sign a new deal with the Power. In question is the term for the contract extension with the expectation being two years, putting Wines out of contract again as soon as he qualifies for AFL free agency in 2020.

“The break gives me time to catch up with my family and make that decision,” Wines told The Advertiser in Shanghai.
“I will catch up with them and catch up with my manager and try to get to the bottom (of the contract terms).”
The future Port Adelaide captain reaffirmed his intent to remain at Alberton.
“I’m really comfortable with where I am,” said the 116-game Wines.
“I believe in the Port Adelaide list, a list that can be competitive for another 10 years as I see it. So I am in a really good spot.”
Wines has echoed the growing message from within the Power playing group that the AFL should persist with the game’s longest road trip to China.
“The game was a lot harder work this year,” said Wines after the 40-point win against Gold Coast followed up the 72-point margin on the Suns in Shanghai last season.
“We never felt we had the game sown up until the last five or 10 minutes.
“I love this game (in Shanghai). I know I can speak on behalf of the boys — we love getting over here. It is a massive innovation by the club.
“This game in China will not happen overnight. This will take years to evolve and take off, but the motivation for us (as players) is seeing the people who don’t play on the field — the non-players — put in so much hard work to get this game up and running.
“It’s mammoth work by the people behind the scenes to organise everything in a foreign country. It is an enormous effort by the club.”
The AFL is expected to endorse a third game in Shanghai, but with a new opponent — most likely St Kilda with the strong support of the Victorian State government to usurp Gold Coast as the Power’s rival in China.
AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan left Shanghai impressed with the off-field support the Power has generated in China for the Australian game.
“Everyone feels a lot of momentum building for our game in China,” McLachlan said. “There’s and a lot of energy around the game.”
