Sam Jacobs has finally joined the GWS Giants, taking up a two-year deal to join the beaten grand finalists.
And the Crows have moved quickly on a potential replacement, using the draft pick the Giants gave them to lure young tall Billy Frampton from fierce rivals Port Adelaide.
After only being offered a one-year deal by the Crows, following a season in which he fell behind former understudy Reilly O’Brien, Jacobs decided to join the Giants on a two-year deal when his contract expired at Adelaide.

It was expected to be one of the first deals done of this trade period but was held up as GWS chose to try and trade for Jacobs, to protect the compensation it received for losing Adam Tomlinson to Melbourne.
Jacobs played 184 games for the Crows over nine seasons after coming to the Crows from Carlton.
Crows list manager Justin Reid said he would be always welcome at the club.
“Sam has been a magnificent player for the Adelaide Football Club,” Reid said.
“We were always going to do whatever we could to help him get to where he wanted to be next season.”
The Crows received a future fourth round pick for Jacobs, which they have given to Port Adelaide to lure Frampton to West Lakes.
Frampton, out of contract, requested a trade out of Alberton having just played three AFL games in five years.
Reid said he was an exciting talent who could be used up forward or helping in the ruck.
“We have been watching Billy for awhile now and we believe he can have a real impact with us over the years to come,” Reid said.
“Billy is one of a number of young players we are bringing in to rejuvenate the list as the Club moves forward ... Billy will add some real competitiveness to the team.”
Port general manager of football Chris Davies said it was a difficult decision to let Frampton leave.
He has no doubt made countless friendships at Port Adelaide that will remain strong and we wish him well,” he said.
Completing a busy day at the trade table, the Crows have also signed off on Hugh Greenwood’s move to the Gold Coast.
The former basketballer, 27, has been traded for a future third and fourth round draft selection from the Suns.
Greenwood managed 51 games for the Crows after being picked up as a Category B rookie in 2015.
Reid thanked Greenwood for his on and off-field contribution and his acknowledged his remarkable football journey.
“It has been a remarkable journey for Hugh, to represent Australia in basketball and then Adelaide in the AFL is a special achievement,” Reid said.
“Hamish Ogilvie (National Recruiting Manager) worked incredibly hard over the years to get Hugh to the club and Hugh certainly showed he could make a major impact at AFL level.
“Hugh quickly became a fan favourite and was also extremely popular around the club with players, coaches and staff.
“We wish Hugh and Kjiersten and their families all the very best for the future.”

A deal with the Western Bulldogs for Alex Keath will also have to be thrashed out with the Bulldogs playing hard ball on the prospect of pick 13 being involved in a complicated trade that could involve as many as four teams.
Across town, Dougal Howard and Paddy Ryder have been traded to St Kilda in a deal that gives Port Adelaide two first round draft picks, but the Power have had to give up its No. 10 pick.
Port will send Howard, Ryder and pick 10 in the upcoming draft to St Kilda but will receive picks 12 and 18 from the Saints.
Ryder nominated the Saints as the club he wants to continue his AFL career at before the trade period despite winning his spot back in Port’s best 22.
Howard last week informed the club he would like to go to St Kilda if a trade between the two clubs could be facilitated.
This came after gentle encouragement from Port to the key swingman to explore the interest from other clubs after his exit interview at Alberton.
North Melbourne and Essendon were also interested in Howard but the Saints are understood to have offered him a five-year-deal worth about $3 million.
Howard is highly rated but started and finished the season in the SANFL, despite captaining Port in Round 9.
