PORT Adelaide’s players promised much early but failed to deliver when it counted in their clash against Geelong at Adelaide Oval. Bone rates their performances.

Boak: 7 Had 16 touches in a great captain’s first half and ended with 26. He flew the flag as he always does but few chose to follow.

Neade: 4 Outsized and out played on too many occasions and another to struggle to make any impression on the game.

Broadbent: 5 Started brilliantly with three touches and a goal in the first 90 seconds but in and out of it after that.

Ebert: 5 Started magnificently with several strong overhead marks and an early goal but along with most of his teammates hardly sighted after that.

Hartlett: 4 With his game face on like most of the leadership group but produced very little and had just two kicks for the entire night.

Gray R: 3 Closely watched and couldn’t find any ball early, causing him great frustration. Another to look less than 100 per cent committed and his night didn’t get any better.

Trengove: 3 Indifferent start and couldn’t get involved to any great degree and it only got worse the longer the game progressed.

O’Shea: 3 Struggled early and faced some difficult matchups on Rhys Stanley and the other Cats talls. Looked unusually out of sorts for him.

Stewart: 5 Adds plenty to the side when he plays and took courageous mark in third term looking to spark his team. He could not.

Amon: 3 Just the two touches in the first half and appeared completely over-awed by the occasion.

Wines:6 Went head to head with Dangerfield in first term and kicked a big goal early. Singlehandedly tried to rally the troops with good third term but to no avail.

Wingard: 3 Not sighted in Power’s dominant first quarter with just one kick and one handball to his name. Got no better as game wore on. Bizarre night.

Toumpas: 4 Awareness of opposition players around him too often a problem significantly reducing his effective ball use. Tough night.

Dixon: 5 Looked on song from the very start with his ferocious attack on the ball and the odd body but faded fast. Strong mark and goal to start third term but not enough.

Lobbe: 5 Started the best he has all year but fell out of it in the second term when the Cats took control and couldn’t recover

Pittard: 7 Good run and carry in first half and one of just a handful to try hard all night.

Byrne-Jones: 7 Loved his start and his competitive spirit but found Cockatoo a little slippery in second term. Recovered well with a solid second half and arguably the Power’s best player.

Hombsch: 5 Had his work cut out on Tom Hawkins early, conceding three marks but luckily no goals. Hawkins only kicked one goal but clearly had the better of the dual.

Westhoff: 3 Just three handballs to his name until just before half time and it only got worse after that. Looked completely disinterested.

Young: 4 Couldnt make any impact .Tried hard but got little reward for his effort.

Jonas: 5 Back to his mean and nasty best early to set the physical standard for his team mates but like many others hardly fired a shot after that.

Gray S: 4 Struggled for any significant ball or impact on the game like most of his mates.
