HAWTHORN plans to win seven more premierships by 2050, at a rate of one flag every 4.7 years.

President Jeff Kennett has tonight unveiled the club’s plan towards 2050, and plans were bold.

Kennett said the first stage of the strategy is titled “Dare to be Different” and that the Hawks are determined to win two premierships and amass 100,000 members within the next five years.

It also wants to extend its deal with Tasmania and obtain an AFL Women’s licence in that time.

“The board has come up with a vision that I think sets a standard not only for a football club but sets a standard for any commercial operation or any political organisation,” Kennett said.

“We are setting a vision tonight until 2050.

“In that period of time, we are going to win another seven premierships.

“Since 1961, when we have won 13 premierships, we’ve won them at the rate of one premiership every 4.4 years.

“Between now and 2050, if we achieve another seven premierships, we’ll be winning those premierships at the rate of one premiership every 4.7 years.

“What we’ve achieved in the past with those 13 and what we can achieve with the next seven over the next 32 years is absolutely within our grasp. (That will total) 20 since 1961.”

He encouraged members to put the plan “in your drawer and keep referring back to it”.

Kennett said he had a “long talk” with coach Alastair Clarkson and that they are “on the same page”.

“We are going to have a lot of fun over the next few years,” he said.

The former state Premier — who served as club president from the end of 2005 until the end of 2011 — was reinstated at the helm in October following the resignation of Richard Garvey.

The plan toward 2050 will be broken up into five-year blocks with Kennett declaring the Hawks a “leader in the pack”.

“If in this first strategic period we achieve our goals ... then the next board might have to readjust slightly,” he said.

“By that stage, we’ll be substantially ahead of the curve. And don’t say it can’t happen.”

The club also confirmed a net operating profit of $2,107,556.

The Hawks also honoured Luke Breust, Liam Shiels, Isaac Smith and Josh Gibson with life membership.
