Emerging Geelong midfield star Brandan Parfitt has put pen to paper on a new deal.
The club announced on Monday night that Parfitt had extended his contract with the Cats for a further two years.
The 22-year-old had been courted by GWS Giants, who attempted to lure him to Sydney as part of the trade for spearhead Jeremy Cameron.
But Parfitt, who enjoyed his finest season in 2020 as an integral part of the Cats midfield, has remained loyal.
He has played 72 games since debuting in 2017, and has kicked 33 goals.
Parfitt’s 107 tackles were the second most in the AFL in 2020 and he averaged 16 disposals per game in the shortened season.
“Brandan is an integral part of our future, so we’re pleased to have secured him until the end of 2022,” Geelong’s general manager of football Simon Lloyd said.
“Since arriving at the club, he has developed into one of the club’s most versatile players and we are excited to see where he can take his game in the next two seasons.
“Brandan displays the values we aspire to live by and is part of a nucleus of young players that represent an exciting future for the Geelong Football Club.”
