Silly Cat burns teammates

RHYS STANLEY 2

Offered little fuel for Christ Scott’s best laid plans opposed to Jake Lever and Sam Jacobs – the big man was a barometer for the Cats struggles.

ZAC TUOHY 2

Zac Tuohy brings absolute commitment but had no answer to the X-Factor and outright pace of Charlie Cameron when isolated in defence.

Totally outclassed and outworked, particularly by brilliant Paul Seedsman who was instrumental in Crows’ win.

ANDREW MACKIE 4

Strong in the second term with nine touches as Geelong fought back but needed more from teammates in his final game.

NAKIA COCKATOO 3

Capitalised on dubious holding the ball decision to slot Geelong’s first and justify Chris Scott’s selection faith but little to celebrate.

HARRY TAYLOR 2

Dispossessed by Eddie Betts for Adelaide’s first goal which set the tone. A deliberate out of bounds set up Betts’ second. Moved forward in final term for sad send off.

JAKE KOLODJASHNIJ 2

Took Intercept mark off poor Jake Lever clearance but hit the post when Geelong needed goal entering time on in second term. Story of Cats’ night. Watched Tom Lynch boot two goals.

ZAC SMITH 2

Saw Sam Jacobs mark and goal for Adelaide’s third goal and had his colours lowered by the in-form Crows ruckman.

DANIEL MENZEL 2

Was the game-breaker against Sydney but shut out of the final primarily by Kyle Hartigan and Jake Kelly.

DARCY LANG 2

Missed a first term snap after Jake Lever throw and couldn’t impact as Geelong would have hoped.

TOM LONGERGAN 4

Returned from food poisoning. Did a solid job under fire against Adelaide skipper Taylor Walker who kicked a late, emotional goal.

JOEL SELWOOD 6

Didn’t appear fully fit but lifted in the second winning contests and slotting late goal but needed more back-up. Courageous for the duration.

SCOTT SELWOOD 2

The midfielder was curtailed by a hamstring injury but came back on with negligible impact.

MITCH DUNCAN 4

Eight first term touches then kicked his first to register back to back goals for Geelong midway through second term but needed to elevate to Dangerfield and Joel Selwood’s level.

JED BEWS 3

Didn’t have his usual hold on Eddie Betts who got Adelaide on a roll with two first term goals before the defender eventually found some measure against the livewire forward.

LACHIE HENDERSON 2

Given defensive role minding Andy Otten but not as influential as previous weeks for the Cats.

TOM HAWKINS 1

The Cats spearhead Unsighted in first half and totally shut down by intercept king Daniel Talia. Kicked first goal 15 minutes into third term but the horse had bolted with 35 point margin.

SAM MENEGOLA 2

Well below the exceptional display that sunk Sydney, made mistakes and offered little summed up by bad miss in front late in the third term. Late consolation goal.

STEVEN MOTLOP 5

A rare positive and creative performer for the Cats, won touches, contested possessions and broke lines but his work was squandered. Slotted a third term gem.

PATRICK DANGERFIELD 6

Started at full forward and missed first set shot. Game was virtually over when moved onto ball in second term but turned on the after burners with seven contested possessions two goals before bulldozed by Rory Sloane.

TOM STEWART 3

Errant handball under pressure allowed Charlie Cameron to boot his second and Adelaide’s seventh from intercepts but wasn’t the Cats worst.

MARK BLICAVS 1

Was hot against Sydney but went totally cold against the Crows, humbled at the outset by Matt Crouch.
