TWO Fremantle stars are under a cloud heading into Sunday’s huge game against Collingwood.

Aaron Sandilands was named in the team last night after missing a week with hamstring tightness.

But the fact back-up ruckman Jonathon Griffin was also named in the squad and the temptation of a month’s rest for the big man thanks to the upcoming Dockers’ bye has Freo fans — and more than 88,000 SuperCoach players — more than a little nervous.

Speaking after Fremantle’s 100-point loss to Adelaide last Saturday night, coach Ross Lyon said Sandilands was “no certainty” to return this week, but Dockers high performance manager Jason Weber said on Tuesday Sandilands was “progressing really well” and would have a fitness test later in the week. Stay tuned.

And he’s not the only Docker in trouble. The whisper out of Perth is that Nat Fyfe is very sore and while he is expected to line up against the Pies, the Fremantle captain is definitely looking forward to the week off.

Still in the west and Eagles Luke Shuey and Mark LeCras also face late fitness tests before being cleared to return from injury against Gold Coast.

Shuey has overcome a calf injury and LeCras missed last week’s loss to the Giants with a hip problem.

SUPERCOACH ALERT

If you think your SuperCoach team has suddenly broken out in some kind of disease marked by a profusion of blue dots, you’re partially right — they indicate players missing this week due to the bye. The good news is only the top 18 scoring players count over the next three weeks and we also have an extra trade per week. The No.1 trade target this week is Adelaide’s Hugh Greenwood, who is about to jump in price after playing his third game. The former basketballer has scored 104 and 72 in his first two matches and provides a crucial extra body this week — swap him in for the likes of Carlton’s Zac Fisher or non-playing bench warmers Brett Eddy or Harley Balic.

BEST BET

The Giants are unbeaten on their home deck this season which goes a fair way to explaining their extremely short $1.23 odds against the Bombers tomorrow. But the two most recent wins were hardly convincing, with some late magic from Steve Johnson and Jeremy Cameron required to get over the line against Collingwood and Richmond. GWS returns from Perth — and a great win against the Eagles — off a six-day break and with an injury toll that still dwarfs most of its rivals. Which is all to say Essendon is worth a sniff at $4.25 with TAB.

ON NOTICE

Are the Dockers serious this year? They have surprised the footy world by sitting in the top eight after 10 rounds but are coming off a 100-point smashing against the Crows. This week Freo faces Collingwood at home in a match the Pies need to win if they hope to stay in finals contention — probably by pinching Fremantle’s spot. Over to you, Ross.
