Specialist advice will determine whether Cam McCarthy will join his Fremantle teammates on the plane for the Gold Coast next week as the 25-year-old continues to undergo testing to find the cause of his collapse at training on Wednesday.

McCarthy was discharged from Murdoch hospital on Wednesday night after initial tests in the wake of his seizure during a non-contact drill at Cockburn earlier in the day came back clear.

The Dockers have said they are “not in a position to provide further or detailed information at this time”, but The West Australian understands McCarthy is set to see a neurologist.

Fremantle has confirmed that his spot on the plane to the Gold Coast on Tuesday for the team’s month-long hub to resume the coronavirus-hit AFL season will be decided by medical advice over the coming days.

“No decision has been made at this stage about whether or not Cam will travel with the team to the Gold Coast next week, and any decision will be based on specialist advice with Cam’s health and well-being paramount,” the club said in a statement.

The forward-turned-wingman was in good spirits when he arrived at Murdoch’s St John of God Hospital on Thursday afternoon, saying he was feeling better and “should be fine” to fly.

He spent about 90 minutes getting tested before heading home.

Earlier in the day, McCarthy spoke with 7NEWS about the scary incident.

“I’m doing well,” McCarthy said.

“Obviously yesterday was a bit of a scare, but I’m on the mend now, and have got a few more tests today.

“I’d just really like to thank everyone for their messages – it’s been awesome.”

The former GWS Giant said he had “no sign” so far of what had caused his collapse.

The Dockers’ round two clash is against Brisbane at the Gabba on June 13.
