COLLINGWOOD used the No.5 pick it received in return for Dayne Beams on aggressive ball-winner Jordan De Goey, the Oakleigh premiership teammate of father-son gem Darcy Moore.
Chief recruiter Derek Hine took three combative midfielders in De Goey, Brayden Maynard (30) and Matthew Goodyear (48).

“All three of those boys have some real grunt and Maynard tackles to hurt,” Hine said.
“The fact that we have had so much experience going out through the midfield meant if you looked at our strategy, apart from Darcy Moore, they were all midfield types who give us some real speed inside and out.
“But De Goey I can see playing pretty quickly.”
Maynard is a powerful defender-midfielder who has a booming left foot, while Goodyear is a blue-collar inside midfielder from Calder Cannons.
Moore, who the Pies’ officially welcomed at pick 9, said it was “a dream” to land at the same club as his Oakleigh teammate De Goey.
“I have fought with him in the trenches in pre-season and on the track every week and he is just an animal on the track,” Moore said.
“He has really got that bit of grunt in him.”
Hine said De Goey, a 187cm midfielder likened to North’s Jack Ziebell, had been on his radar since he first saw him play for Oakleigh early last season.
De Goey starred in the TAC Cup grand final this year, kicking three goals in a forward role.
Hine also kept in regular contact with DeGoey’s father, Roger, who the Pies’ list boss knew from their days working together at the Melbourne Fire Brigade.
“I actually watched him (De Goey) early in the year last year so I should have told him to sit in the cupboard because I really liked him from the first game and I just thought, ‘Wow’,” Hine said.
“Jordan is different type of player in that he is a 360-degree player, he doesn’t sort of work through the traffic.
“He will sit and wait and when an option closes down on him he can use his hands really, really well.”
DeGoey said he was thrilled to land at the Pies.
“It’s an honour and a dream, mum barracks for them so it was her little goal to get me there,” De Goey said.
“I hate to lose. When I bring that into my game it comes out in my contested ball.
“It probably wasn’t one of my strengths as a junior but I’ve made it one this year.”
