Veteran speedster David Mackay is to be a Crow for a 14th season.
The maligned wingman/half-back has signed a one-year contract extension for next year after a solid 2019 campaign where he played 18 games for a career total of 220 — the 13th-most in Adelaide history.
While key veterans leave the club — ruckman Sam Jacobs is poised to join grand finalist GWS, key forward Josh Jenkins has asked for a trade and 2010 club champion Richard Douglas did not have his contract renewed — Mackay is the Crows’ great survivor.

The 31-year-old has never completely won over the club’s fans but has played 16 ore more games in a season 11 times since being drafted at pick 48 at the 2006 national draft from Victorian under-18 side Oakleigh Chargers.
Adelaide general manager of list management and strategy Justin Reid said Mackay’s experience and demeanour would be helpful as the club looks to rejuvenate its playing list.
“David had one of his best seasons this year and his attitude, preparation and training standards are always first class,” Reid said.
“We see him making a valuable contribution both on and off the field next year.”
The Crows also have re-signed emerging ruckman Kieran Strachan to a one-year rookie contract extension following a promising debut season in the SANFL.
The 204cm ruckman previously played for South Bendigo, before moving to Essendon and Port Melbourne in the VFL.
With Jacobs leaving and the untried Paul Hunter delisted, Adelaide needed to keep a young, developing ruckman on its list.
