RICHMOND small forward Tyson Stengle is the next cab off the trade rank for Adelaide.
With wantaway Mitch McGovern traded to Carlton and the Crows compensated with pick 13 and gifted Sturt forward Shane McAdam, who they had ranked in the top 20 on their draft wishlist, Adelaide now is in talks to bring Stengle to West Lakes.
“That is a work in progress,’’ list manager Justin Reid said.
“We’re having good dialogue with (Tigers list manager) Blair Hartley and Tyson is keen and committed to get back to SA and join the Adelaide Football Club.
“We are having ongoing discussions and are quietly confident we’ll be able to get something done there.’’
Woodville-West Torrens product Stengle, 19, has played just two AFL games for Richmond because of its strong band of small forwards.
But he has class and speed and, like McAdam, applies strong forward pressure.
Stengle’s trade value is about a fourth-round draft pick.
The Crows on Wednesday ended the debate over Andy Otten and Cam Ellis-Yolmen’s futures by re-signing them to one-year contract extensions.
Popular tall utility Otten, 29, has signed for a 12th AFL season and gives Adelaide some flexibility in that he can play in defence and attack.
Big-bodied midfielder Ellis-Yolmen played 15 games this year for a career tally of 29.
He has been retained on the rookie list.
“Both Andy and Cam are valuable contributors on and off the field and over the years have overcome adversity with injury, which is a testament to their character and resilience,” Reid said.
“We see them both playing a meaningful role going forward.”
While the Crows have lost McGovern, they have re-signed 19 players this year.
