Taylor Walker explains his animated discussion with coach Don Pyke in the coaches’ box

INJURED Crows captain Taylor Walker said he felt compelled to voice his opinion in the coaches’ box during Sunday’s loss to GWS.

Walker appeared in animated discussion with coach Don Pyke during the game at Adelaide Oval as their team slumped to its third loss in four games and slipped outside the top eight.

“I thought it was important to throw up my opinion of what I was seeing,” Walker told Triple M radio on Tuesday.

“Whether Pykey wanted to listen to it or not — he was really engaging with it — so I’d do it again.

“I won’t share it because what happens in the box will stay in the box, but it was just my views of the game and I felt it could have helped in Pykey’s decision making

“If I sat there and didn’t say it then something might not have changed.”

Walker said Adelaide’s “intent and effort” was there on Sunday but the team lacked execution going forward and gave up too many easy goals to the Giants.

The Crows used three players in the ruck on the weekend led by Sam Jacobs, Josh Jenkins and big-bodied midfielder Cameron Ellis-Yolmen who Walker said might get another crack at it.

“Curly (Ellis-Yolmen) is quite tall and dynamic so we tried him in the ruck and I thought he did a pretty good job so we might see a little bit more of that,” Walker said.

Tom Lynch is in doubt for this Sunday’s game against Fremantle in Perth with a side strain meaning Matt Crouch may be the fourth player to captain the Crows’ team this season.

“He’s (Lynch) still pretty sore and he’ll have to try to get through the main session and if he doesn’t I’d say he won’t play,” Walker said.
