In-form Crow Wayne Milera has identified mentoring others as his future calling
WAYNE Milera has been in stunning form for the Crows and it has coincided with him figuring out what he loves most outside of the game. Like mentor Eddie Betts, Milera wants to make a difference for young people — just like others did for him.

LIKE his own mentor Eddie Betts, Adelaide’s Wayne Milera has his eye on a future mentoring children.
Milera, 20, is in his third season with Adelaide and has tapped into a rich vein of form after shifting to the backline.
His rise in form and influence — he was among Adelaide’s best in Saturday’s 13-point loss to Melbourne — coincides with identifying his passion outside of the game.
There are already plans in place for him to do some mentoring with an indigenous student — who also hails from Central District football club — next year.
“It will probably be with primary or middle school kids — I’m sort of in and out of a uni course at the moment,” Milera told The Advertiser.
“So that’s what I’m looking to do, teaching.
“But anything along the lines of helping kids.”
Milera said you can “get a bit of a kick seeing people grow up”.
“A lot of people have seen it with me. There have been a lot of people who have helped me along the journey that has helped shape who I am, my footy and my schooling.
“I’m sure they’re getting a kick out of seeing me pursuing my dream of playing AFL footy.
“It’s something I’d like to do myself — help someone. Whether that is to get into a trade or apprenticeship — their goals.”
He turned heads with some of his elusive work last weekend and is starting to deliver on the vast promise that had him drafted by the Crows with No. 11 in the 2015 national draft.
