Eddie Betts says sorry to fan for turning down selfie request while he was watching his daughters’ birth

EDDIE Betts might just be one of the classiest men in Australia. He’s said sorry to the selfie-wanting fan he turned down — because he was busy watching his daughters being born.

YOU couldn’t wipe the smile off Eddie Betts’ face as he spent quality time with his newborn twin girls Alice and Maggie in Adelaide.

The proud new father, who missed their birth while in Melbourne for Adelaide’s weekend win over St Kilda, was making up for lost time yesterday, cradling his daughters in hospital. The Crows’ superstar and wife Anna already have two sons,Billy and Lewis. Eddie shared the photo of him with the new additions to his family on social media, and later revealed their names on Instagram.

“Welcome Alice and Maggie to this crazy family,” he captioned the snap.

Anna went into labour ahead of schedule on Saturday morning, leaving the goalsneak no time to fly back to Adelaide for the birth.

Eddie watched the delivery on FaceTime on his mobile phone in the team hotel lobby, apologetically refusing a fan who was hoping to get a selfie.

“I felt real bad because I was so rude to him, but I was watching (the birth of) my daughters,” Eddie says.

“So, whoever that dude is, I’m sorry. But now you know why I said ‘no’, because my daughters were being born.”
