ADELAIDE first-round pick Darcy Fogarty has been handed the jumper made famous by Crows great Mark Ricciuto as he settles in at West Lakes.
Fogarty, 18, will wear the No. 32 that was first used by inaugural squad member Bruce Lindsay but immortalised by Ricciuto, the club’s only Brownlow Medallist and a member of the 300-game club after clocking up 321 matches with Adelaide.
Fogarty has some qualities in common with Ricciuto: both are hardened boys from the country who had played senior football before arriving at West Lakes.
Fogarty hails from the southeast country town of Lucindale while Ricciuto came down from Waikerie in the Riverland.
AFL talent manager Michael Ablett spoke of Fogarty’s physicality after he was snapped up in the draft.
“He’s a steal for Adelaide,’’ Ablett said. “He’s a bit of a throwback. Think (AFL legend) Tony Lockett, when players drop back in front of this young fella good luck to you because he goes through with a full head of steam.’’

The No. 32 was also worn by Patrick Dangerfield for seven seasons.
Dangerfield won a Malcolm Blight Medal in the jumper before crossing to Geelong, where he went on to win the Brownlow Medal.
Fogarty, who was taken at No. 12 from Glenelg at the AFL national draft in Sydney last Friday night, takes over the jumper from the delisted Troy Menzel.
Other Crows players in new numbers are Hugh Greenwood, who will play in No. 1 after previously wearing No. 20; club champion Matt Crouch, who will switch from No. 44 to No. 5.
Former Blue Bryce Gibbs will wear No. 6, Myles Poholke moves from No. 31 to No. 10 and former North Melbourne player Sam Gibson will play in No. 20.
