Crows prolific midfielder celebrates 100-game milestone with 35 touches and a 33-point win over Richmond. Now for the bye …

As Crows gun midfielder Matt Crouch celebrates his 100th AFL game in style with a crucial 33-point win over Richmond, he reveals what the club means to him.

Matt Crouch has described playing his 100th game of AFL footy as a “huge honour” and has revealed his hopes to win a premiership with Adelaide.

“It’s a huge honour to play 100 games at this footy club, I’m really honoured to do that,” Crouch said.

“The ultimate goal for everyone playing AFL footy is to win a premiership and that’s something I really aspire to and something I really want to do.

“I just really appreciate all the work that’s gone into 100 games and obviously I love this club now and it’s been a great journey so far and I’m hoping to build on it and hopefully play another 100.

“I’m confident if we play our best footy, we’re capable of (winning a premiership).”

Crouch, who debuted for Adelaide in round three against the Sydney Swans in 2014, has reached the 100-game milestone before his older brother Brad, who debuted in 2013.

Brad, who’s had an injury-interrupted career, has a game tally of 74.

In Thursday night’s 33-point win over Richmond, the brothers combined for a remarkable 78 disposals (Brad had 43 and Matt 35) and 18 clearances (with 11 going to Brad).

Crouch said the two did have a second sense as to whether the other was on the field and would often look to pass off to each other.

“Sometimes to our detriment,” he said.

“Sometimes I look for him when I probably shouldn’t.

“It’s obviously good to play with your brother, it’s pretty special, I love playing with him.”

Crouch described Brad as being in career-best form.

“He’s playing some good footy and he’s obviously had that horror run with injuries over his career, so it was good to see him out there playing well and it’s good for him to have the confidence,” he said.

But in the victory over the undermanned Richmond, Crouch said it was also pleasing to see the likes of co-captain Taylor Walker and big forward Josh Jenkins back to their strong-marking best.

“It gives you huge confidence (as a midfielder) when you kick the footy in there and those guys are flying,” he said.

“I thought Tex and Josh competed really well last night and ahead of the ball they were really good.”

The Crows built their solid win on the back of a huge 12-goal second half, with strong fourth quarters now a hallmark of their season.

“Everyone was pretty frustrated with the way we were playing, and we couldn’t really score that well and we thought we had a lot of opportunities that we missed,” he said.

“We spoke a little bit about that at half time, to put that to the side and then come out after half time and I thought we did that pretty well.”

And despite finishing the game with only one on the bench (Josh Jenkins injury came 45 seconds before the game’s end, he was impressed with how well the team ran out the game.

“Obviously it’s hard when there’s only one on the bench and everyone’s pretty buggered, but I thought we rotated pretty well and we ended up running the game out pretty well.”

Now, Crouch heads to the Clare Valley for a few days of relaxation with a couple of other players and their partners, before getting ready for an assault on making finals by season’s end, with the next three games against Geelong, Port and Gold Coast.
