ADELAIDE says it will not pursue a trade for Carlton star Bryce Gibbs.
Crows’ football manager Justin Reid said the club had “moved on” from the prospect of landing Gibbs after failing to satisfy the Blues on the same deal last year.
“No one has requested a trade to the Adelaide Football Club so I think we have all moved past that,” Reid said.
“Bryce is a contracted player so respectfully I think he is happy where he is.”
Earlier, Carlton football chief Andrew McKay entered trade talks at Etihad Stadium on Monday declaring Gibbs — by stark contrast to last year — has not requested a trade.
“He has not requested anything as yet — and he is a contracted player for another couple of years,” said McKay of Gibbs who has two years to serve on his five-year contract.
“We expect him to be with us for that period.”
McKay was unsure if Adelaide would again move on Gibbs as the 18 AFL clubs meet on Monday morning for the start of the 11-day trade period.
“Don’t know ...,” McKay said. “Time will tell.”

McKay was clear on how he would respond to Adelaide if Gibbs is chased again by the Crows.
“Similar response to last year,” said McKay whose club was steadfast in demanding strong compensation of multiple draft picks from the Crows to trade Gibbs. “We expect him to be a Carlton player.”
Adelaide is expected to ask of Gibbs to enhance its midfield, particularly after passing up Brisbane free-agent midfielder Tom Rockliff who is to choose Port Adelaide as his new club this week.
