The impending Adelaide Crows exodus has begun as Cam Ellis-Yolmen officially became a Brisbane Lion.

After informing Adelaide that he wanted out last week, Ellis-Yolmen agreed to go to Brisbane on a three-year contract - who were the big improvers in the 2019 AFL season.

Ellis-Yolmen was able to exercise his unrestricted free agency rights and join the Lions as they seek to build on the 2019 season and contend for a premiership.

Ellis-Yolmen said he was excited about the move to Brisbane.

“The Lions have had a lot of success this year, which has been exciting to watch,” he said.

“Looking in from the outside, they seem to have a good culture, which I can’t wait to be a part of.”

Adelaide will receive a third round compensation for Ellis-Yolmen’s departure, which currently stands at No. 47.

This will add to their current haul of picks 4, 23 and 28 with more to follow in what is set to be an exodus of players at the Crows as they get ready for a list overhaul.

Ellis-Yolmen played 39 games in eight years at the Crows and in 2019 averaged a career-best 23.5 disposals in 10 games before having his season prematurely ended by a shin injury.

The 26-year-old will team up with former Crows list manager David Noble at the Lions.

Noble said Ellis-Yolmen’s big body would help Brisbane’s midfield.

“He’s matured as an individual and we believe he is ready to go to the next level in his footballing career,” he said.

“Cam will help bring more physicality to our game as he is strong and holds his ground well.”

Ellis-Yolmen is one of a number of players expected to leave the Crows.

Hugh Greenwood has told the club he wants to go to the Gold Coast Suns, Eddie Betts is set to make a stunning return to Carlton, ruckman Sam Jacobs is poised to join GWS as a free agent, key forward Josh Jenkins will depart to Victoria and Alex Keath has requested a trade to the Western Bulldogs.

Veteran midfielder Richard Douglas has been axed, defender Andy Otten has retired while Brad Crouch has been linked to a big-money move to the Suns.

But after winning the Crows best and fairest, Crouch said he hoped he could remain in Adelaide.
