Adelaide is sweating on the fitness of Bryce Gibbs and has taken two emergencies to Melbourne for Saturday’s match against St Kilda.
Gibbs failed to board the flight to Melbourne on Friday as he overcomes a bout of gastro, with the Crows adamant he would board a later flight if he recovers in time.
Emergencies Chayce Jones and Jordan Gallucci both made the flight.
Coach Don Pyke said Gibbs would be given every chance.
“Bryce Gibbs has got a bit of a virus so we’re waiting on him,” Pyke said. “He was pretty crook this morning so we’ll see whether he gets better.
“Fingers crossed we’ll see how we go.”
Gibbs was dropped to the SANFL for the Crows’ clash with North Melbourne before responding with a solid 26 possessions and eight marks in the in the big win against the Suns.
The doubt over Gibbs came as Pyke took no issue with Josh Jenkins speaking publicly about a robust discussion between the pair after the forward was also dropped for the Suns game last week.
“We’re in a professional era now,” Pyke said.
“This is their career.
“We want to communicate with our players exactly what they need to do to either stay in the team or their role in the team.
“That’s Josh’s decision if he feels comfortable talking about it (publicly).
“The reality was it was a conversation between a player and a coach.”
