The Adelaide Crows have kicked off a golf-themed Mad Monday after their “disappointing” 2024 season finally came to an end with a loss against the Swans on Saturday night.
Josh Rachele – who was seemingly made the Crows’ scapegoat during a highly controversial week – was seen donning a matching two-piece outfit, while retiree Rory Sloane boarded the team bus with four cartons of Hard Fizz sparkling seltzer in hand.

The Crows have been no stranger to media attention in the past fortnight, as a string of controversial on-field and off-field decisions caused uproar among the AFL community.
Their bold statement to drop rising forward Rachele was met with an abundance of criticism from fans around the country, with AFL legend Graham Cornes even comparing it to his 1994 decision to discipline Tony Modra for missing a team rehab session. Cornes, though, acknowledged Rachele’s axing was a “much bigger story”.
Reflecting on the season, ruckman Reilly O’Brien said the team “had high expectations” coming into the year, and were looking to “still be playing over the next couple of weeks”
“We think we have the team to do it but we weren’t able to do that with the way we played and being too inconsistent over the year. So, really disappointing year,” O’Brien said.
“We are a very proud club and we want to be in finals, not spectators at this time of the year so I am sure they (the fans) are frustrated.
“There’s a lot of things that go into that, it is not just one or two things, so we will work out what we can do better and how we can rectify this next year.”
