Adelaide Crows co-captain Rory Sloane a chance to face GWS despite inuring hamstring against Melbourne

Injured co-captain Rory Sloane is some chance to line up in Adelaide’s clash with high-flying GWS, while another three key Crows are pushing hard for a recall as Taylor Walker reveals why he will be wearing a suit this week.

Injured co-captain Rory Sloane is some chance to line-up in Adelaide’s clash with high-flying GWS, while a trio of key Crows is pushing hard for a recall.

Sloane limped off with a hamstring issue during the second quarter of his team’s comeback victory over Melbourne in Darwin on Saturday night.

But fellow skipper Taylor Walker said scans had revealed the damage was not as serious as first feared.

The forward also confirmed Matt Crouch (hip) was nearing a return, while experienced pair Sam Jacobs and Richard Douglas were knocking on the door after impressing in the SANFL.

“He (Sloane) could’ve come back on, but they decided not to,” Walker told Triple M on Tuesday.

“He’s just going to have to go through the process this week and try to get up.

“He (Matt Crouch) was close to playing last week, so I’d imagine he’d be closer this week.

“We’ve got some experience back and we had a few good performances in the SANFL from some of senior boys which was good.”

The Crows turned a 31-point deficit in the third term into a two-point success against the Demons in the Top End.

It came a week after Adelaide coughed up a 33-point advantage at the same stage of the match to lose by two goals at home to West Coast.

Walker said the triumph, which moved his eight-placed side to 6-5 record, was an important step in the right direction.

“It was probably a tale of two halves,” said Walker, who praised the impact of returning duo Bryce Gibbs and Josh Jenkins.

“They dominated the first half and then in the second half, we were able to get in control and peg that lead back and play some good footy.

“We won a little bit more of the contest (and) we were able to slow them down just a wee bit.

“We’re not stringing four quarters together at the moment which is a bit frustrating, but we’ll take the four points.”

Adelaide faced a potentially season-defining run of fixtures over the next month as it met four clubs in the top eight.

After the Giants at Adelaide Oval on Saturday, the Crows would take on Richmond (home), ladder-leader Geelong (away) and cross-town rival Port Adelaide, with a bye in the middle.

“It’s a big few games,” Walker said.

“We’re going to have to find a little bit more form.”

Walker also revealed he will have to wear a suit every day this week after he lost a bet with Matt and Brad Crouch after their racehorses clashed on the weekend.

“The rule was a carton of beer and wear a suit for the week, whoever lost,” Walker said.

“Luckily we had yesterday off and tomorrow off, we’re only in today, Thursday and Friday.”
