Adelaide Crows assistant coach Mick Godden has said former first-round draft selection Jordan Gallucci has work to do.
Speaking on SEN Breakfast on Friday morning, Godden said the 21-year-old’s pre-season hasn’t been at the level ‘he or we would like’.
“Jordan hasn’t got to the point where he was up for selection this week,” he said.
“His pre-season has been okay without being at the level he or we would like.

“He needs to work on his consistency. He does some brilliant things, but the game goes longer than that.
“He’s an explosive athlete, maintaining his effort across the whole game is a challenge for him,”
“The other side is maintaining his mental application, the game continues, whether you’re in defence or attack, at times he lapses in applying that.
“The consistency with his fitness and the ability to do things repeatedly – he is progressing, just hasn’t got to that level yet.”
Gallucci has played 27 games across three years at the Crows, with only 10 last year and his most recent coming in the round 16 Showdown loss to Port Adelaide.
Other key absentees from the first Marsh Series side include Darcy Fogarty and Fischer McAsey, but Godden said there’s no issues there.
“Fogarty had a back worry into hamstring tightness, we would’ve liked to play him,” he said.
“We have an under 23 game against Port next week, there’s nothing to worry about and he trained fully this week.
“Fischer (McAsey) has had a foot-type pain,” he said.
“He’s a young man with a lot of talent and looked good in our internals.
“Same as Darcy, we’re taking a no-risk policy.”
While some players missed out through a no-risk approach, others will get their first taste of AFL football, including Shane McAdam and Jordon Butts.
“We’ve got another player in Butts who’s coming up,” Godden said.
“He stood Tex last week and did a good job, he and McAsey are exciting for our future.
“Shane has some tricks, he’s coming into an AFL system which was a shock to him.
“He’s a very dedicated kid, it’s just about making sure his body is in a condition to handle the rigours of AFL.
“He continues to learn from the physios on how to get the most out of yourself, and anyone who stands him will be quite nervous.”
