Adelaide co-captain Taylor Walker says Crows defender Alex Keath is in early-season All-Australian form

Adelaide co-captain Taylor Walker says his humble Crows teammate Alex Keath would hate the praise, but he would have the former cricketer in his All-Australian side after six rounds.

Taylor Walker says one of his unsung Adelaide teammates is in All-Australian form, while a Port Adelaide youngster has also caught his eye this season.

The Crows co-captain rated 197cm defender Alex Keath’s displays among the best in the competition for his position in the opening six rounds of the campaign.

Walker said the former top-level Victorian cricketer, who ranked third in the league for total intercepts, eighth for marks and 10th for contested marks, had gone about his business with a minimum of fuss.

But he believed Keath’s performances in just 18 games at the elite level over three years had made him an early contender for all-star selection.

“I’m 100 per cent with you,” Walker told Triple M, when asked if Keath would warrant selection in an All-Australian team named now.

“He’ll hate this because he hates praise.

“He’s very, very humble, I love him.

“He’s in mine (All-Australian team) now as well.”

Walker also singled out Power rookie Connor Rozee for praise following his stunning arrival in AFL ranks.

The 19-year-old utility was averaging 17 disposals per game and had kicked nine goals since being taken from North Adelaide at No. 5 in last year’s Draft.

“I’ve got a lot of love for Connor,” Walker said.

“His impact as a first-year player in this competition has been outstanding.

“I think he’d be winning the (AFL) Rising Star (award).

“The other thing, he’s playing one of the hardest positions on the ground that’s half-forward.

“Let’s just sit and watch him blossom into one of the game’s better players.”

The Crows recorded a 29-point win over St Kilda at Docklands on Saturday to move to ninth with a 3-3 record.

Walker booted a season-high four goals in the triumph, highlighting his returning confidence in marking contests.

“My first couple of weeks (of the season) I obviously wasn’t jumping at the ball and I knew that, but I knew I wasn’t far away,” Walker, 29, said.

“As a big bloke, it’s always the last thing that comes back and off the back of last year I wasn’t anywhere near the level I wanted to play at.

“I reckon your aerial and marking is the last little thing that comes back.

“Now I’m starting to mark a few more which is nice.”
