Taylor Walker cuts mullet for Leukaemia Foundation, raising $66,672
CROWS star Taylor Walker has lost his famed mullet — for the Leukaemia Foundation, raising $66,672.
THE mullet is dead, long live the mullet. After becoming a staple of the Adelaide Football Club for more than two years, Taylor Walkers infamous mullet was shaved off on Thursday night for a good cause.
Back in May, AFL star Walker vowed to shave off his mullet if he could raise $50,000 for charity.
Tex smashed that figure, raising $66, 672.45 which will go to the Leukaemia Foundation.
Five-year-old leukaemia sufferer Lily Block who inspired the fundraising shave, joined Tex on the Footy Show along with mum Natalia, dad Luke and brother Cody..
“I was very lucky enough to meet Lily through the Crows Foundation and leukaemia,” Tex says
“Over 11,500 people are diagnosed with Leukemia every year and I think that works out to be about 31 a day, so I was very stoked to have so much support and $66K is amazing, so thank you everyone and hopefully it can help the Block family.”
The hardened forward says he was slightly nervous at thought of having his locks shaved by Sam Newman.
Tex agreed to have the whole lot shaved off his head. “No. 5” on the clippers before Sam grabbed some hair scissors and cut off the mullet.
A professional hairdresser was then called in to finish off the shave and confirm it's the end of an era for mullet lovers around the state.
