Tarryn Thomas trains with WAFL side Swan Districts in bid to resurrect football career

Tarryn Thomas has again moved closer to reviving his football career after a training session with a WAFL club. See the pictures and details here.

Disgraced former North Melbourne midfielder Tarryn Thomas is a step closer to reviving his football career after training with Swan Districts.

Hours after touching down in Perth, Thomas was all smiles as he hit the training track on Tuesday night.

The 24-year-old will spend the next fortnight with the WAFL side in search of a state league lifeline after the Northern Bullants passed on the 69-gamer.

Any potential recruitment still needs to be signed off by WA Football with the board set to meet in the coming days. As first revealed by this masthead on Monday, Swan Districts is currently the only WAFL club willing to consider Thomas. The club is in search of forward firepower after losing Tom Edwards to Essendon.

Despite his chequered past, Thomas was quickly welcomed into the fold by his potential teammates.

Thomas received a pat on the back from an assistant coach after a brief conversation before training. He was spotted hi-fiving players between drills and he also had a lengthy conversation with head coach Andrew Pruyn during one rotation.

Thomas, sporting No.58, did gravitate to the back of group huddles as he attempted to assimilate back into football training after nearly a year in exile.

The longer training wore on, the more it became obvious that Thomas still has some way to go to prove his fitness.

Swan Districts will first need to be satisfied that the former Roo has reformed his behaviour and whether the club has the resources to support him.

But from a football sense, Thomas appeared fatigued towards the end of drills and he sat out parts of the session. He did show glimpses of his skill, side-stepping a player and nailing a shot on goal during one match simulation drill.
