SuperCoach scores: Hawthorn v Geelong JLT Community Series clash in Tasmania

WONDERING whether to pay up big for Patrick Dangerfield in SuperCoach? Early signs are he’s going to be worth every cent again. SUPERCOACH SCORES FROM HAWKS v CATS

IF you were wondering whether paying $716,900 for Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield would be too much, the early indication is he’s going to be worth every cent.

The Brownlow Medallist racked up 117 SuperCoach points in his first competitive hit-out of 2017 and looked as good as ever against Hawthorn in Launceston.

Dangerfield picked up 27 disposals and eight clearances in his side’s four-point loss and the good news is there’s plenty of improvement given just nine of his possessions were kicks.

The surprise packets of the night were Cats recruits Zach Tuhoy and Aaron Black.

Both starred in their first outings for their new club, with Tuohy the leading scorer on the field, finishing on 130 points.

The former Blue was the leading possession-winner on the ground with 33 as he enjoyed more midfield minutes.

A $443,200 defender, Tuohy is worth keeping an eye on for the remainder of the preseason competition.

Black is on our watch-list and he didn’t disappoint, notching 89 points after booting four goals — all of which came in the second half.

The former Kangaroo is definitely a genuine cash cow option this year given his job security is likely to be pretty good as coach Chris Scott searches for the right forward mix to take the heat off Tom Hawkins.

Hawthorn youngster Kade Stewart topped his team’s scoring, with his one-the-siren match-winner giving his tally a healthy boost in triple figures — 112.

A $274,200 forward, the Hawks is awkwardly priced.

The positive news out of the Hawks was the successful return of new captain Jarryd Roughead.

Playing in his usual role mixing forward with midfield minutes, Roughead finished with an admirable 63 points in the victory but given it was his first game in more than 12 months, it’s a good foundation heading into the season.

He finished with 14 disposals and a goal.

He’s sure to be a popular choice for most SuperCoach teams this year, especially if he can stay fit during the preseason and getin himself ready for Round 1.

Cam Guthrie and Lachie Henderson suffered injuries and didn’t finish the game.
