SuperCoach AFL 2025: Experts reveal their trades for round 15

The SuperCoach experts are going hard with their trades this week, with a surprise Boost and a potential 400 captaincy score on the agenda. See all their moves here.

There are two bye rounds remaining, but experts have the final 10 rounds in mind when planning trades for round 15.

One is taking a conservative approach, but he’s an outlier. For others, it’s time to go hard to get as many premiums on the park as possible for the run home – even if that means flying close to the sun with trade numbers dwindling.

AL PATON

IN: Callum Mills, Tom McCarthy, Sam Darcy, Jason Horne-Francis

OUT: Matt Roberts, Matt Flynn, Angus Clarke, Luke Pedlar

I knew I saved that last Trade Boost for a reason. My forward line has required desperate surgery for a while and post-bye there would be nowhere to hide those four rookies – the best of which were Luke Pedlar (subbed last week) and Archer Day-Wicks (dropped last night). Fortunately, two value premiums have appeared in that part of the ground. They aren’t as cheap as we had hoped, but I can get there after building a war chest by swapping Lachie Neale to Colby McKercher last week.

That still wasn’t enough on its own, but the emergence of Tom McCarthy as a viable 23rd player opens the door via an overdue Matt Flynn downgrade, and another $90k from Matt Roberts to Callum Mills completes the deal. This finishes my team in one big hit – with four trades for injury emergencies and the hope Mills, McCarthy and McKercher can score like premiums for the next 10 weeks.

THE PHANTOM

IN: Sam Darcy, Callum Mills, Tom McCarthy

OUT: Clayton Oliver, Kane McAuliffe, Cooper Simpson

The easiest trading week of the year? With the value of Darcy ahead of a meeting with Richmond, Mills on the bubble and a $99k mature-ager scoring 133, I think it might be. The plan was to move Angus Clarke to Mills but the young Bomber fell just short last week so McAuliffe has to be the one to make way. Luke Jackson as the solo ruck against another Essendon debutant in Vigo Visentini is tempting, but I won’t throw my team out for it.

PATCH

IN: Sam Darcy, Tom McCarthy

OUT: Angus Clarke, Kane McAuliffe

SuperCoach? Completed it, mate – my final trades for the season are this week, with four left over. I wish I could keep Angus Clarke but sadly I’m 10k short of trading Hustwaite out, which is infuriating. I needed Darcy to drop that little bit more. But team done with Caldwell/Darcy/McKercher as my final players on each line, and McCarthy becomes my 24th player on the bench. Now to sit back, relax, and enjoy the rest of the season without having to make any trades for any reasons. Right? Right??

CHLOE WILLIAMS

IN: Callum Mills, Tom McCarthy, Sam Darcy

OUT: James Leake, Elijah Hewett, Dante Visentini

After weeks of willing Dante over the line, it’s time to wish him well to make room for Mills. Hewett was also a good servant and now is the perfect time to upgrade him to a fallen premo in Darcy. I’m not just doing it because it’s cool now, go back and check my long-term plan. Tom McCarthy is a lock. Easy done!

HAYDN ‘DOS’ KENNY

IN: Luke Jackson, Mani Liddy, Archer May

OUT: Elijah Hewett, Luke Pedlar, Clay Hall

I’m out here hunting Unicorns like Voldemort in the Forbidden Forest. But which Corn do I pick? Luke Jackson and Sam Darcy are both seriously tempting … but LJ rucking solo against a debutant? This could get ugly. I’m happy to pay up for a potential 400 captaincy score and a smooth run at Optus to finish the season, finalising my team a little earlier than planned. Bringing in two $99K rookies makes it all possible. And why not? I don’t have the trades to cash them out, anyway!

TIM MITCHELL

OUT: Max Gawn, Izak Rankine and Clay Hall

IN: A ruckman, Callum Mills and Sam Darcy

I know you hate these trades. I do, too. But I have eight trades left and no other realistic chance of finishing my team. The ruckman will probably be Tom De Koning, but part of me thinks Marc Pittonet is going to be named this week. If that happens I’ll need to get inventive or go back to an old favourite like Darcy Cameron. You couldn’t run Nick Madden at R2, could you?

MATT FORREST

IN: Nil

OUT: Nil

Shock. Horror. I’m sitting on my hands this week, which is the first time this season that I won’t be trading, and just the third time I’m making fewer than two trades. It’s still early in the week and that could change by the end of the round, but there’s no one that I desperately want or need this week, I’ve got 25 playing this weekend and I’ve only got nine more moves left for the season. So I’m holding for now.
