It’s been a long pre-season for the podcasters inside The Phantom’s Lair, but now they’ve revealed their final sides for the 2020 KFC SuperCoach season.

THE PHANTOM
With a shortened season – and shortened matches – KFC SuperCoach will be different in 2020. As a result, I’ve spent the past 24 hours tinkering with my side.
And there has been some big changes, none more so than the inclusion of West Coast ruckman Nic Naitanui. There’s been some tough calls made in the engine room, too, but in a shortened match, it’s more about impact and big SuperCoach numbers from limited possession. And, there are not many better in the game than Josh Kelly and Marcus Bontempelli.

THE SUPERCOACH HIPSTER

Defensive rookie chaos following a week of extraordinary global, league and SuperCoach uncertainty has impacted my team and no doubt many others this week. Keen to keep five premo mids and have to stick fat with my boy Marshall after talking him up all summer, as well as Zorko, so had to rejig rookies to hopefully have coverage. I need Starcevich and Williams to play, otherwise more headaches. Missed out on Dusty, Cripps and Prestia, who I had in all summer until two weeks ago, so hopefully my PODs don’t let me down.
THE ERADICATOR
A few tweaks after teams were named. The rookie uncertainty in defence has forced my hand on the set and forget rucks. Gawn had to go (for NicNat), as well as Macrae down to Coniglio so I could fund another defender – the underpriced Brodie smith, as well as getting a premium end forward – Whitfield. I feel my balance is pretty good. I wanted to keep 5 premo mids as I believe the shortened quarters will benefit them the most. I have a little bit of positional flexibility as well, but it’s 2020 so who knows if this is an improvement or not
MR. SUPERCOACH
Antimo Iannella
Have kept changes to a minimum for now, but at this stage I have to sacrifice Clayton Oliver for Stephen Coniglio, with some extra cash required to fill my defensive bench. Not completely comfortable with having a 184k defender sitting on the pine, but I think McAsey has decent job security and generating cash quickly is more important than ever. Fingers crossed Cogs can make sure I don’t regret letting Oliver slide …
