Value, output and projection – a guide to understanding SuperCoach Draft Tiers on Draft Day

As the pre-season Marsh Community Series gets underway this week, we’ve compiled a list of all SuperCoach Draft players across all positions and tiered them into their respective averages.

As the pre-season Marsh Community Series gets underway this week, we’ve compiled a list of all SuperCoach Draft players across all positions and tiered them into their respective average categories based off last year’s output while also projecting their 2020 form.

The aim of showcasing Tiered rankings provides a visual of how players are ranked in terms of their output while simultaneously showing their value in comparison to other positions.

Midfielders naturally are the highest averaging players, but the key to a competitive SuperCoach Draft team is to have an even spread of contributors across all positions who’ll carry you throughout the season.

Defenders might be the best-placed position in Draft formats this year based on spread and depth, while the forward line leans out quickly with more boom/bust types to take a punt on.

The table provides a simple breakdown. You’ll notice on left-hand-side that Tiers are broken down into nine categories which are based on PPGs (points per game) in 2019, while across the top are the four positions to choose from.

PPGs range from 80 – 120+ so, while this is top-level, there is still an element of research required for players who’ll fall between the 65-79 PPG who’ll undoubtedly pad out the remainder of your squad as the Draft goes on for those whose drafts s stretch to between 18 – 22 players per squad.

The names inside each box may feature a '+' or a '*' next to their name. The legend for this is;

+ – Ability to go 1 tier above

++ – Ability to go 2 tiers above

+++ – Ability to go 3 tiers above

* – Played less than 16 games in 2019 but have been placed in their specific category based off past averages and 2020 projection
