THREE-TIME Knuckey Cup winner Nick Liddle says his belief South Adelaide can have success in 2014 inspired him to re-sign at Noarlunga.
In a huge show of faith at the Panthers, Liddle is one of a host of players to pen new deals over the past fortnight.
Joel Cross also re-signed on Monday meaning he and Liddle will become two of the club's longest serving Victorian recruits in recent seasons.
"I really love the footy club and I've done four hard years there now without a lot of success and I want to see the club have success,'' Liddle said.
"I really believe we can play finals next year with the list we've got."
Liddle said South's disappointing 2013 season was due to the side becoming "too easy to play against" and says the squad lost its determination to compete in games.
Liddle said the players were excited by the appointment of former Port Adelaide Power assistant coach and experienced VFL mentor Brad Gotch.
He believed the club could quickly become competitive if it adapted to the modern AFL-influenced tactics now regularly seen from leading SANFL clubs.
"I'm really excited about Brad coming in,'' Liddle said.
"I can't wait to get into pre-season.
"He's been across AFL and across VFL, and he's seen different game styles.
"He is really tactically switched on and I think next year you will see a more tactical South Adelaide."
Liddle hoped he would elevate his own game next season.
