A SEA of black and white swarmed Hickinbotham Oval as the final siren sounded and the Wineflies began their celebrations.
Three years since they last won the Southern Football League's greatest prize, Reynella proved too strong for Morphettville Park, beating the Roos by 25 points.
The vocal black and white supporters packed the north-western hill at South Adelaide's home ground with flags flying, banners waving and pom poms shaking with every goal - and it gave Reynella the boost it needed to secure the game after trailing at the end of the first quarter.
Reynella supporter Rex Thompson said the Wineflies were back in the game after a slow start.
"Reynella played a stellar match," Mr Thompson said.
"Unfortunately Morphettville Park seemed to be tiring ... but it was a beautiful day, everyone enjoyed the footy and the conditions were perfect for a thrilling grand final."
A-grade coach Gianni Petrucci's wife, Hayley, said there was a special atmosphere in the black and white camp.
"Reynella is a proud family club and played an awesome game," Mrs Petrucci said.
"The atmosphere has been amazing and it's been a great day for everyone."
Wineflies supporter Shaun Westphalen agreed.
"There's been a good community spirit all round for the day and an amazing atmosphere too," Mr Westphalen said.
"It's a great result for Reynella."
Morphettville Park had hoped to break its 23-year premiership drought on Saturday, but after the Roos scored only two points in the second quarter the Wineflies capitalised to kick five goals to lead by 12 points at half time.
Reynella continued its dominance, kicking three goals in the third quarter and running home with the game in the fourth.
Reynella forward Brendan McKeough, also known as Milo, could not wipe the smile off his face following the victory.
McKeough carried his two-week-old son Callam in his arms, after the game as he went to receive his premiership medal and celebrate his last game in the SFL.
"I'm very proud my son was there to see me play my last game of football before retiring ... it's a great day for the club," McKeough told the Southern Times Messenger after the game.
Mr Petrucci told a packed oval the win was for the loyal Wineflies supporters.
"We played with our hearts today," he said.
"It was a great effort and we can enjoy the win from here."
As the crowds filtered from the ground, Reynella returned to the middle of the oval to celebrate together as a team, reflect on its 25 point victory and sing the Wineflies song one more time.
