While there were no arguments over Mark Robinson’s choice of Dustin Martin at No.1 ahead of Patrick Dangerfield, after that it gets very interesting.

Port Adelaide jet Robbie Gray and breakout Adelaide star Matt Crouch shoot up the readers’ list at three and four. Robbo had Gray at 23 and Crouch at 24.
The readers were also red hot for Sydney Swan tough nut Luke Parker, who came in at No.5, a whopping 42 spots higher than Robbo rated him.
It’s all about opinion, everyone has one, and the readers reckon Robbo got it right with Parker’s captain, and the most inspiring Swan, Josh Kennedy at No.6.
But there was absolutely no love for Giant Josh Kelly. Maybe there were a few Melbourne readers who were miffed that he didn’t come home in the trade period, but while Robbo rated him the No.5 player in the competition, readers were far less generous, his stock falling to No.27 on the people’s choice list.
Ditto Alex Rance. The best defender in the game and a premiership player to boot, but he could only muster No.28 in the fans’ vote, well below the No.3 Robbo assigned him. It appears there’s a lot more appreciation for the dashing defender within the industry than outside.
And forget about Tom Mitchell too. Robbo had him in his top 10 — the readers sent him down to No.37, despite the fact he set an AFL record for possessions in the season. We guess they listened to Bucks.
And the will he, won’t he Gold Coast-Geelong-retirement saga appears to have hurt Gary Ablett’s stock, the fans rating him only the 43rd best player in the competition, behind the likes of Carlton defender Sam Docherty, who jumps from Robbo’s ranking of 42 all the way to No.12.
