DUAL Norwood premiership coach Nathan Bassett expects to learn within about a week whether he will have an AFL coaching role next season.
Bassett confirmed he had been in contact with several AFL clubs but said nothing was certain.
He denied he had signed to go to Essendon, but said they were one of about five clubs in the market for an assistant coaches.
"A few clubs are working their way through,'' Bassett said.
"Essendon, West Coast, Melbourne, St Kilda, Hawthorn - all those clubs have appointments I think they still have to make and in some cases multiple appointments, so there's still quite a few coaching jobs left …
"Whether I end up at any of those places or not, I guess we'll probably find out in the next week and a bit, week and a half.
"If not I'll be coaching Norwood."
Bassett also revealed that for a day during this season he thought he had an assistant coaching role at North Melbourne.
The former all-Australian was offered a role at the Roos and is unsure why it was taken off the table the following day.
