AFL news: Every club’s membership rewards for 2022 premiership season revealed

The AFL will look forward to welcoming back Victorian footy fans this season - here is how the loyal members have been rewarded for sticking by their club during the pandemic.

AFL club members will be able to sit in their selected reserved seats once again as the league and stadiums prepare to welcome fans back to games in 2022.

Members who had reserved seats in 2021 lost their usual spot at the games they could attend due to crowd caps and Covid health orders that meant fans had to space out at matches.

Victoria’s vaccination rate means big crowds are set to be welcomed back in Melbourne with paid-up club members to return to the seats that some have enjoyed for more than a decade.

The AFL is committed to playing on in 2022 regardless of the emergence of the Omicron Covid variant.

The league is monitoring the situation and following health and government advice, but still plans to welcome back big crowds in Victoria and across Australia in 2022.

Victorian-based clubs have responded by offering reserved seats to members in their various membership packs, which are detailed in the Sunday Herald Sun.

Fans in Victoria will also be treated to a smorgasbord of live footy in the early part of the season.

All 10 Victorian teams will play against each other in Round 1 as the league attempts to reward Victorian fans after two years of lockdowns and two grand finals away from the MCG.

There will be five Thursday night games to start the season and then likely a chunk of Thursday nighters later in the season across school holidays after 10 of them in 2021.

What you get: Rewards for every club’s AFL members revealed

The loyalty of AFL club members was tested again this year.

In another Covid-hit season, the weekend pastime of going to the football was again taken away from many fans as crowds were banned and games — and finals — were shifted interstate.

Now clubs are looking for ways to thank their members for their loyalty again this year and encourage them to get back on board for 2022.

Price freezes or discounts, package upgrades and special member events are among the rewards on offer.
