St Kilda is the latest club to be hit by Covid with defender Dougal Howard entering the AFL’s health and safety protocols.
The defender will miss Sunday’s clash against the Dockers, along with first-year midfielder Mitch Owens who has been dropped after one game.

Darragh Joyce comes into the side to replace Howard in the back half, while former Port Adelaide defender Jarrod Lienert will make his first appearance for the Saints after arriving at the club via the SSP period.
West Coast’s Covid outbreak escalated dramatically on Friday and the club confirmed late on Friday night that 12 players would be unavailable through health and safety protocols including star ruckman Nic Naitanui.
Further compounding West Coast’s woes, Andrew Gaff is injured.
Former Docker Stefan Giro, ex-Geelong and North Melbourne forward Aaron Black and ex-Hawk Angus Dewar (Litherland) have been named as top-up players.

North Melbourne has dropped Jaidyn Stephenson after the 23-year-old had just 11 disposals in last week’s loss to the Hawks.
Dustin Martin has been withdrawn from the Richmond side after taking personal leave from the club, with Kamdyn McIntosh, Thomson Dow and Matt Parker named in the final 22 to face the Giants. Jack Riewoldt (broken thumb) and Dion Prestia (hamstring) are unavailable.
KFC SuperCoach benches have been hit hard with Nic Martin (Essendon), Jackson Mead (Port Adelaide), Mitch Owens (St Kilda), Jake Soligo (Adelaide), Kaine Baldwin (Essendon) and Sam De Koning (Geelong) all missing in round 2.
Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks has resisted the urge to name reigning club champion Rory Laird early for the clash against Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday, but has dropped Wayne Milera and young gun Riley Thilthorpe.
Jake Soligo has also been omitted while Andrew McPherson is out with a hamstring injury.
Thilthorpe has been dropped after a goal, seven disposals, four marks and three tackles against the Dockers.
His turnover late in the game, from which Fremantle scored, proved to be the difference between the two sides at Adelaide Oval.
Nicks said Thilthorpe, the No.2 draft pick in 2020, was still developing.
“Our guys have a clear understanding of what we expect and off the back of a really strong block of training, match simulation and trial games, we have a healthy list and genuine competition for spots,” Nicks said.
“We all know Riley is super talented, but he is also in the development phase of his career right now.
“We want to make sure when we identify areas needing work that we provide the best opportunity to focus on those things and sometimes that will be at SANFL level.

Saints to unleash top draftee, Fyfe ruled out
St Kilda will properly unleash exciting first-round draftee Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera on Sunday after being the unused medical substitute in round 1.
The 19-year-old dasher was the Saints’ top pick in last year’s draft and No. 11 overall and has made a quick impression on new coach Brett Ratten with his composure and skills.
“Nasiah will play this week; he’ll be in the team,” Ratten said.
“His kicking and his movement has been a real feature, and it’s such a strong part of his game and the reason why he got drafted in the first place.
“He had a little bit of a setback through injury in the early part of pre-season, but it’s a credit to him that he was able to get a look-in for round 1 and is now in the side for round 2.
“You feel bad as a match committee when you bring somebody in and they’re the sub and they don’t get on the ground.
“I was happy he didn’t get on the ground because we didn’t get an injury, but it would have been nice to inject him into the game.”

Meanwhile Nat Fyfe won’t play this weekend in the clash against the Saints with the Dockers captain still nursing an injured back.
If Dockers ruckman Sean Darcy gets through today’s main session he’s set to return.
“If he (Darcy) gets through we’ll consider bringing him straight back in.,” Dockers coach Justin Longmuir said.
Longmuir also said top draft pick Neil Erasmus is nearing his debut game
“He’s close. He’s still got a lot of work to do on his game,” Longmuir said.
“We’re really happy with his progression and his output.
“He’s a young player that’s only really played one game against men. I can’t really comment on selection just yet.”
Collingwood will make at least one change from its season-opening victory, with rookie coach Craig McRae confirming Mason Cox won’t face Adelaide on Saturday.
Cox suffered a sprained ankle in the final minutes of last Friday night’s 17-point win over St Kilda and has failed to adequately recover.
The American Pie’s absence paves the way for ex-Cat Nathan Kreuger to make his black and white debut, although McRae said Darcy Cameron was another contender to replace him.
Will Hoskin-Elliott could also be in the mix for selection.
DOGS LOSE STAR FOR BLUES BLOCKBUSTER
Dan Batten
Emerging superstar Bailey Smith will miss the Western Bulldogs’ crunch clash with Carlton on Thursday night with a hip injury.
The absence of Smith, who took clearance king Tom Liberatore’s spot in the centre square in round 1, will be a blow for Luke Beveridge’s side up as it attempts to quell a new-look Blues midfield, which will welcome back prolific ball-winner Sam Walsh.

Smith was the Bulldogs’ highest ranked player on the ground in the loss to Melbourne last week, tallying 33 disposals, 11 tackles and eight clearances
Top 2020 draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has been included in the Bulldogs’ 22 after being picked as the substitute last week, while Taylor Duryea and Anthony Scott, the latter who was dropped for the grand final last year, will also face the Blues.
As flagged by Beveridge on Wednesday, ruckman Stefan Martin was named as an emergency after he was withdrawn pre-game with injury last week.
It means Tim English will ruck solo after a promising display against Max Gawn in the season opener.
Maligned utility Josh Schache and Bailey Williams have been axed.
Small forward Lachie Fogarty and Walsh have replaced Adam Cerra and Jack Martin after the duo entered health and safety protocols, while defender Tom Williamson has been omitted.
