"There were some younger midfielders at the Suns who validated their positions. I've had some frustrations because I feel that I can contribute," he told AFL Trade Radio.
"What I would bring to a footy club at this stage of my career would be experience and leadership. I've also got that finals experience.
"The flame is burning for me, and I'll do whatever I can to keep it alive because you're finished for a long time.
"I still have a lot of AFL football left in me, and with the right environment I'd love to help out.
"I'd love to go to a club that might need to help be developed, but also a team that is in striking distance of a flag to have some security on their list."
If a third chance doesn't come knocking, Barlow hopes to remain in the the industry.
"If something doesn't pop up I'm really preparing for life after footy," he said.
"I always thought that when I finished playing AFL that would be it apart from playing a few games locally. I still feel fit and ready to play so. I might look at some coaching to put food on the table."
