South Australian cricket icon the legendary Barry ‘Nugget’ Rees has delivered one of his famous pre-match rev ups ahead of the T20 Showdown between Adelaide and Port Adelaide on Sunday.
The two local AFL clubs will meet at Adelaide Oval this afternoon to raise money for the bushfire appeal, with each team also including a handful of Adelaide Strikers players who are backing up after Saturday night’s disappointing loss to the Sydney Thunder.
‘Nugget’, who is well-known for his longstanding affiliation with the Australian cricket team – he joins them on tour once a year, and is included in team activities and has been known to deliver some rousing pre-game speeches in the dressing room – fired up the Power boys before the match.
“Pump them!,” he concluded.

It’s probably a good thing, given Adelaide skipper Taylor Walker and Tom Lynch were a bit unsure what to do during their pre-game pitch inspection with former Redback and Test player Greg Blewett:
