AFL 2020 season postponed: "I never thought it would come to this"

South Australian football fans are showing their loyalties by vowing to keep their financial memberships with their respective clubs.

Following the AFL’s announcement yesterday to shut down the season until the end of May due to the coronavirus pandemic, it’s expected both the Adelaide Crows and Port Adelaide would be hit significantly in the bank.

Yet, with no games for the foreseeable future and fan access still up in the air, Crows and Power fans are still eager to pay for their memberships to help their clubs out.

The AFL season’s brief run had an impact overseas, with American fans tuning in for the first time and getting involved.

It’s triggered some international fans to also put their hand up to help out locally.

Meanwhile, both sets of supporters have also tried to see the lighter side in the cancellation.

With no AFLW premier to be decided this year, the Crows will remain the defending champions, while Port Adelaide’s round one win had it sitting on top of the AFL ladder.

The AFL will aim to resume at the end of May in the hope of completing its modified 17-round season.
