It was once the home to some of Australia’s greatest athletes before Eddie McGuire turned Olympic Park into Collingwood’s training precinct.
The track and field community didn’t take that well and now one of their own has been forced to vacate the premises again.
Australia’s middle-distance star Morgan Mitchell and her training partner Nana Owuse-Afriyie had been using the running track that encircles the oval at the Magpies’ Holden Centre base for the past couple of months.
But with Collingwood returning to training on Monday, a security guard ordered the two runners off the track.
Mitchell, a semi-finalist in the 800m at last year’s world athletics championships in Doha, was understandably not impressed and let her feelings be known quite clearly.
Owusu-Afriyie, 21, made her senior international debut in Doha as a member of the Australian 4x100m relay team.
