Retired Hawthorn champion Jarryd Roughead will return where it all began when he pulls on the boots for a cameo stint in a country league this year.

Jarryd Roughead is to be unveiled as a prize recruit for progressive West Gippsland Football League team Inverloch Kongwak, in a year where the Sea Eagles will also show off their new netball courts and pavilion.
Roughead, 33, who began his junior career in the nearby Gippsland township of Leongatha, has agreed to play at least the first three games of the 2020 season.

It will see him line up alongside his brother Cameron and close mates Rowan and Dylan Clark for a team that has finished fifth in the past two years after winning the 2017 flag.
Inverloch Kongwak, which boasts colleague Mark Robinson as its number one ticket holder, plays its first three games at home, including a Match of the Day clash with Cora Lynn in Round 3.
The club’s hope is that Roughead, who has accepted an off-field role at St Kilda, will enjoy the experience so much that he will play at least two more matches in the home and away season to qualify him for the finals.
Playing with Roughead will be VAFA Old Trinity legend Brendan Iezzi, who joined the club last year and promptly won its best and fairest.
NUMBERS FLAG SUCCESS
Footy trivia buffs never cease to amaze, such as the Hawthorn supporter named Shane who came up with this pearler.
It concerns the similarities surrounding the respective starting Hawthorn back lines for their 1971 and 2008 premierships.
It works like this and is all to do with the numbers worn. In 1971, the Hawks’ last line read David Parkin (27), Kelvin Moore (15) and Les Hawken (18).
Fast forward to 2008 and when the game started it was Stephen Gilham (27), Luke Hodge (15) and Brent Guerra (18).
