Moran quits to pursue online business

CROWS ruckman Brad Moran has retired from football to concentrate on his new online ordering system business, NoQ.
Moran's retirement is effective immediately.
"I've spent three years with the Kangaroos, four years with the Crows but it's been a career riddled with injuries," Moran said.
Ironically, one of those injuries played a big part in the genesis of NoQ, a mobile phone ordering system for coffee, take-away and other products in which people queue.
Moran came up with the idea in in 2009, then committed to it fully in 2010 while recovering from a second knee reconstruction.
After raising $1.1 million with investors, the free NoQ App launched on Apple's App store on Monday and will be featured with a number of Adelaide-based franchises including Bean Bar, Wok in a Box and Marcellina's Pizza before being launched nationally.
Moran, 24, who has no business background, has enlisted the help of some experienced Adelaide businessmen including Economic Development Board chairman Raymond Spencer, Alan Young Stockbrokers chief executive Alan Young, BankSA chairman John Heard and PKF director John Sutton.
"I know that if I could get on side a select few business executives of this calibre that it would make easier work to raise the money," Moran said.
While working to build up the number of merchants using the system, Moran will head to the US this month to attend a young entrepreneurs event and speak to venture capitalists about further expanding the business.
An official announcement of Moran's retirement is expected today.
Born in England, Moran - who turns 25 next month, has played 18 AFL games amid many interruptions with injury since joining the Crows from North Melbourne in 2008.
He played three games for the Kangaroos where he started his AFL career in 2006.
