Melbourne Demons star Kysaiah Pickett sends AFL world into frenzy with bizarre social media act

Melbourne forward Kysaiah Pickett has sent shockwaves through the AFL world with a bizarre act on social media.

Daniher wins Australian of the Year

Melbourne star Kysaiah Pickett has sparked a trade storm after liking several social media posts linking him to the Fremantle Dockers.

The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a move to West Australia last year but a move never eventuated.

However, ahead of the 2025 AFL season, it has once again been suggested Pickett will be traded to Fremantle after he reportedly told Demons coach Simon Goodwin in his exit interview last year that he was homesick and wanted a trade for family reasons.

And Pickett has only added fuel to the fire that he will be in purple next year after liking several posts across Facebook and Instagram linking him to the Dockers this week.

The most recent case came on Friday when he liked a comment by a Fremantle fan page on Facebook that stated the Dockers signing his cousin Isiah Dudley was all part of a ploy to lure him to the west.

The post also stated that Pickett was close friends with Fremantle’s new recruits Shai Bolton and Quinton Narkle and their signings were all part of a larger plan to bring ‘Kozzy’ back home.

“He is Kozzy Pickett’s cousin. Bolton and (Quinton) Narkle are Kozzy’s best mates. All part of the plan baby!” a post from the Flagmantle account stated.

Pickett also liked an Instagram post by another Dockers fan account which said he was interested in joining the club.

The 23-year-old also follows many of the Fremantle squad, including Bolton, Narkle, vice-captain Caleb Serong, defender Jordan Clark and young gun Hayden Young.

Everything seems to be lining up with Pickett moving to Fremantle, something even the club’s vice-captain is hoping happens.

“He’s an incredible player and a special player,” Serong told The West Australian.

“It’s something that we’re really proud of, to be a club and place that players want to come to, but we don’t see it from that point-of-view.

“We’ve got a lot of guys that just love coming to work, love being a part of what we’re building and if that extends out to other players at other clubs seeing that as a place they want to come to, then that’s amazing.

“It’s just something that we’ve built. We want to build an environment where people want to come to work, love competing, and love getting better. If that shows around the league, then that’s great.”

Pickett is contracted to the Demons until the end of 2027 after extending his deal in early 2023.

But it appears he won’t see out his contract.

Pickett has kicked 161 goals from 106 games for Melbourne since being taken with Pick 12 in the 2019 draft.

He’ll miss the first three games of the 2025 season through suspension.
