3AW football host Jacqui Felgate has found herself on the injury list after a freak horse-riding accident.

Felgate was missing from last week’s Friday night broadcast as she recovered from a serious fall which saw her rushed to Royal Melbourne Hospital.

The high-profile broadcaster remained in hospital for observation for several hours after the incident last Tuesday.

“I had a tumble off a horse, much to my embarrassment,” Felgate told Media Street.

“No broken bones, I got great care at the RMH and then had the night off (3AW) on Friday night.”

Felgate declared she would be back riding next week and watching her daughter in pony club this weekend.

“As they say after you fall off you’ve gotta get right back on and I’ll be back next week,” she said.

“I’ll be watching my daughter compete on her pony on Saturday – she’s a better rider than me!”

There was an unfortunate side note to the traumatic event when her husband RSN Racing Pulse host Michael Felgate came to take her home later that night

The family car was “keyed” in the hospital car park.

Felgate’s love of horses is well known and she recently said spending time with former racehorse Red allows her to completely switch off from her hectic life juggling career and family.

She described Red as her “saviour”.

Felgate joined the 3AW football team this year as host of Friday night football and Saturday pre-game after joining the station in 2022 as part of Melbourne’s top rating Ross and Russell breakfast show.

She filled in as host when the pair were away alongside Brownlow Medallist Jimmy Bartel.

Felgate sensationally quit Channel 7 in April last year after nearly a decade with the network where she was a respected newsreader and reporter.

She is regarded as one of Melbourne’s biggest social media influencers with more than 239,000 Instagram followers.
