As the rumours continue to roll on, Rowell splashed the cashed by spending more than $2m on a home in the Melbourne suburb of Kew.
The purchase raised eyebrows among footy fans who believe the move adds to the rumours he would be departing the Suns.
Despite the new purchase however the Suns remain confident in retaining the star midfielder as they chase their first finals berth.

“He’s splashed more than $2 million in recent days in Kew, but the Gold Coast Suns are still confident of keeping him,” Mitch Cleary said on Channel 7’s The Agenda Setters.
“Those Victorian clubs chasing Matt Rowell think it’s little consolation; they think he is still more likely to stay with the Suns on a two-year deal that would take him through to free agency.
“Given just how well the Suns are playing, they think it’s going to be hard to wrench him out of Gold Coast.”
It was revealed Rowell met with four clubs — Geelong, Western Bulldogs, Essendon and Collingwood — ahead of his final year under contract as a Sun.
Rowell is not a free agent so would need to request a trade from the Suns despite being out of contract at the end of 2025.
Gold Coast Suns general manager Wayne Campbell says the Suns will check in with Rowell to see where he sits but never want to be in discussions with a player every day.
“You have a chat to say ‘how are you going, what are you thinking’ and everything like that,” he said.
“You can become worried or scared or whatever but ultimately you have to have the discussion to say is there anymore we can do for you, we love you.
“Then there’s discussions between list managers, managers and stuff like that but after that you certainly don’t want to be talking every day, every week, every month.”
The Gold Coast Suns currently sit third on the ladder after the starting the season with three straight wins.
They’ll look to continue their unbeaten start when they take on North Melbourne at Barossa Park on Saturday for the AFL’s Gather Round.
