North Melbourne superstar Luke Davies-Uniacke could become football’s next $10 million man on a bumper extension to stay at Arden St.

Rival clubs including St Kilda are convinced the linebreaking ball winner will recommit to the Kangaroos on a seven-year deal in a massive boost to the club.

Davies-Uniacke, 25, had been heavily courted by a range of clubs but the number four pick is widely expected to pledge his faith in the club’s direction.

But it will still be one of footy’s biggest deals with Davies-Uniacke in range of an whopping eight-figure pay packet to stay in blue and white.

A $9-$10 million deal over seven seasons is worth about $1.28-$1.4 million a year including incentives and bonuses.

The powerful on-baller is considered one of the most explosive and damaging inside midfielders in the game.

North Melbourne is yet to finalise terms with Davies-Uniacke but would be hopeful of completing negotiations before the mid-season bye.

A Davies-Uniacke signature would be a huge development for coach Alastair Clarkson who is in his third season in charge.

Two-time premiership star David King said Davies-Uniacke’s signature would be a significant coup for Alastair Clarkson, in particular.

“I think it is a massive signing and it is huge to endorse Alastair Clarkson and what he is doing at this football club,” King said on Fox Footy.

“If he leaves, he basically says ‘I don’t see where they (Roos) are going’. I don’t see the future there.

“He is going to be well remunerated whether he stays or goes.

“This is an endorsement that Clarkson has this football club on the right track.”

The club took a big step forward pulverising Melbourne by 59 points in round two which helped showcase the club’s exciting young midfield talent.

North football manager Todd Viney also confirmed it is chasing Collingwood tough defender Brayden Maynard.
