Woodville-West Torrens will be without co-captain Patrick Giuffreda for at least two weeks after he damaged his hamstring at training on Friday night.
Giuffreda was forced to withdraw from the win over North Adelaide at Woodville Oval on Sunday and will miss the clash against Sturt at Unley Oval on Saturday.
Eagles coach Sam Lonergan must also find a replacement for youngster Tom Schmusch, who hurt his AC joint when making his league debut against the Roosters.
And there is serious doubt hanging over the availability of key forward Nick Hayes and small forward Jake Johansen.
It was initially feared Hayes had fractured his finger in the impressive victory to open the season, but it was a dislocation and the bone had pushed through the skin.
Johansen was concussed midway through the final quarter, prompting the Eagles to have only 17 players on the ground for the final five minutes with an unknown player being load managed and the Eagles in control on the scoreboard.
“Nick’s finger is back in place and he had it stitched,” Eagles chief executive Luke Powell said. “It could be nothing or two weeks depending on how it heals.
“But the injury is a lot better than we first thought.
“Jake will have a test on Wednesday, but we have only a six-day break and the doctor won’t take any risks with him.”
Jake Westbrook, squeezed out of the Eagles side to face the Roosters with Schmusch the preferred option, is a strong chance to come into the Eagles’ line-up.
Norwood skipper Jace Bode could make a surprise appearance in the battle against Central District in Elizabeth on Saturday despite dislocating his collarbone in the win over Glenelg at The Parade on Friday night.
Bode left the contest late in the third quarter and will have scans on Monday night.
However, Redlegs football manager Mark Ross said the defender had pulled up well and had not given up hope of fronting the Bulldogs.
