WOODVILLE-West Torrens forward Adam Grocke is to test his troublesome Achilles injury when he returns to action against Glenelg at Brighton Rd on Sunday.
Grocke was a late withdrawal from the Eagles’ loss to Sturt before last week’s bye after aggravating the injury and it was feared he was headed for another extended stint on the sidelines.
But he only had to negotiate the club’s final training session to be given the all clear to take on the Tigers when the Eagles attempt to snap a three-game losing streak.
“The pain aspect is not an issue but he has been restricted in his physical ability,’’ Eagles coach Michael Godden said.
“The restriction aspect is hopefully being sorted out.
“He has been able to get up for this week and we have just got to roll with it.’’
Former Central District defender Jacob Templeton will make his first appearance in the Eagles league side since hurting his foot in round two, having impressed in his two matches in the reserves.
The Eagles will enter the game against bottom-placed Tigers a hot favourite but Godden has reminded his players of the 48-point loss to Adelaide three games back when his side also started the strong fancy.
“The way we played then, hopefully we learnt some lessons,’’ Godden said.
“It is very much about us at the moment.
“It is not about losing our past three games but looking ahead and pushing our standards. We are the worst in the competition at stoppages and they are the best.
“We have to make sure they don’t have the accendency — that is the challenge for us.’’
Tigers coach Nick Stevens will be demanding an immediate response from his players after the 118-point loss to Norwood at The Parade.
Stevens put his players on notice after the performance, which has sunk the Tigers two games plus hefty percentage below ninth-placed Central District.
