West Adelaide’s board will be restructured and the current members will stand down at the annual meeting in February following a vote on Monday night.
The proposal to alter the club’s constitution received almost 84 per cent support from the members with 75 needed to pass the motion.
Members will elect two members of the board at the annual meeting on February 11, while the other five will be appointed by a nomination committee comprising Bloods’ identities John Kantilaftas, David Shipway and Adrian O’Dea. Previously all seven board members have been elected by the members.
Bloods president Lee Harradine, who is keen to retain the role at the annual meeting, said the support from the members was positive for the club’s future.
“The board was supportive of the proposed changes, but needed the members’ vote to be able to make these important changes to the constitutio,” Harradine said.
“We can now move forward to implement the necessary changes and position the club well for 2019 and beyond.
“I would like to thank the members for their passionate support of the club and for seeing the positive side of the changes proposed.”
The vote on the constitution followed a recommendation from a sub committee given the responsibility of reviewing the governance of the board.
There is also likely to be a restructure of the front office as the Bloods seek to change their operations.
